What was the catalyst for your career as a court administrator?
I fell into court administration after the attorney I was working for retired in 2010. While looking for a new position, I was hired as a legal assistant for the chief administrative officer for the Juvenile Court in Fulton County, Georgia. I fell in love with the work and grew from there.

Over the various courts, circuits, and jurisdictions where you’ve served, what are the common challenges, and how did you overcome them?
I have found that the common challenges are a lack of succession planning, keeping up with technology, and a lack of adequate and priority funding.

What is the best part of your job?
To me, that is a two-fold question. When I worked in the municipal courts, I would say that I loved the day-to-day interactions because those types of interactions allowed me to see an immediate resolution. In the other courts where I have worked, I really love supporting the growth of court leaders.

How has membership in NACM helped you along the way?
My NACM membership and involvement have definitely aided in my professional growth, and I have gained some great friends and a strong network to learn from.

What advice would you give to an early career professional?
Never stop learning, get involved, and connect with others in all court areas and from other states. You really learn a lot when you start networking with others.

When not working, how do you enjoy spending your time?
I love traveling and finding new restaurants to try.
